Call Analytics & Management
Call analytics and management tools connect phone conversations back to the marketing and sales activity that generated them, then mine the conversation itself for signal. That spans two overlapping jobs: call tracking (which campaign, keyword or channel drove this call) and conversation intelligence (what was actually said, and how well the rep or agent handled it). Buyers are usually marketing ops teams proving channel ROI, or sales/support leaders coaching call quality.
What to look for
- Call tracking and conversation intelligence are related but distinct jobs; a tool built for marketing attribution (CallRail, WhatConverts, Mediahawk) isn't automatically strong at call coaching, and vice versa (CallMiner, Balto).
- Dynamic number insertion (DNI) accuracy matters more than any other single feature for attribution use cases; ask vendors how they handle high-traffic sites and session-based number pools.
- AI transcription and scoring quality varies a lot by vendor and by language/accent coverage; request a trial with your own call recordings rather than trusting a demo script.
- Several vendors here (Invoca, CTM/CallTrackingMetrics, Convirza) have rebranded or repositioned around AI agents in the last year; confirm which parts of a pitch are shipped product versus roadmap.
- Pricing is usually per-tracking-number plus per-minute, so model call volume growth carefully, especially for pay-per-call or franchise/multi-location businesses.
- For contact-center-scale conversation intelligence (Observe.AI, Level AI, CallMiner), integration with your existing CCaaS platform (Five9, Aircall, NICE) is often the real gating factor, not the AI features themselves.
Platforms in Call Analytics & Management
-
CallRail provides dynamic number insertion, call tracking and lead attribution so marketing teams can tie phone calls, form fills and chats back to the campaign, keyword or channel that generated them. It is widely used by agencies and SMB/mid-market marketers, and its self-serve pricing and setup make it more accessible than enterprise conversation-intelligence platforms. Adds AI call scoring and transcription on top of core tracking.
-
Invoca connects marketing campaigns to phone conversations and outcomes, combining call tracking with AI-driven conversation analysis and, more recently, AI agents aimed at converting inbound calls. It targets larger marketing and contact-center organizations in verticals like healthcare, financial services and insurance where phone remains a primary conversion channel, distinguishing itself from lighter tools like CallRail on enterprise integration depth and conversation AI sophistication.
-
CallTrackingMetrics, now marketed as CTM, tracks calls, chats, forms and texts and ties them back to marketing campaigns, layering AI-driven transcription and insight on top of the core attribution data. It also offers contact-center functionality (routing, IVR), making it a fit for teams that want tracking and call handling from one vendor rather than stitching a phone system to a separate attribution tool. The company's homepage now sits at ctm.com; confirm current branding when evaluating.
-
CallSource records, tracks and analyzes phone interactions to measure marketing ROI and coach staff on call handling, with an added reputation-monitoring layer beyond pure call tracking. It has long-standing verticals in automotive dealerships and home services, competing with CallRail and CallSource on longevity and industry-specific benchmarking data rather than newer AI features.
-
Convirza analyzes phone and SMS conversations with AI to score calls, surface coaching opportunities and connect calls back to marketing sources. It's positioned as a mid-market alternative to larger conversation-intelligence suites, aimed at teams that want call scoring and lead-quality insight without a full enterprise contact-center analytics deployment.
-
Marchex analyzes phone calls, texts and other conversations to produce marketing performance, sales effectiveness and customer experience insight, with particular focus on automotive, healthcare and home services verticals. It is one of the older independent players in call analytics, publicly traded, and differentiates on vertical-specific benchmarking built up over many years of industry data.
-
WhatConverts captures phone calls, web form submissions and chat conversations, organizes them as leads in one dashboard and reports which marketing channels produced them. It is aimed at agencies and SMB marketers who need channel-level ROI reporting without the complexity of an enterprise conversation-intelligence suite.
-
Ringba is a call tracking and routing platform built specifically for pay-per-call marketing, with real-time bidding-style call routing, caller profiling and detailed reporting for affiliates, networks and brands running performance-based phone campaigns. It differs from general marketing call trackers like CallRail by focusing on the affiliate/pay-per-call use case rather than owned-brand attribution.
-
Retreaver tracks, routes and analyzes inbound calls in real time, with configurable routing logic that lets publishers, affiliate networks and advertisers direct calls to the right recipient based on caller data. Its API-first, tag-based approach makes it a common choice for teams building custom call-routing logic rather than using an out-of-the-box workflow.
-
Infinity (formerly Infinity Tracking) combines call tracking with conversation analytics and AI tools to capture calls, interpret customer intent and connect conversations back to marketing spend. It is UK-founded with strong presence among European enterprise marketing teams, competing with Mediahawk regionally and with CallRail/Invoca globally.
-
Mediahawk tracks calls and other conversions and connects them back to specific marketing touchpoints, including offline channels, to build a fuller attribution picture than call-only trackers provide. It is UK-based and mainly sold to UK/European marketing teams, positioned as a smaller, more attribution-focused alternative to CTM or Infinity.
-
WildJar attributes inbound phone calls to their advertising source and layers AI-powered call intelligence, transcription and an SMS gateway on top of core tracking. It is based in Australia and is a common choice for Australian and APAC advertisers who want a regional vendor with local support rather than a US/UK-headquartered platform.
-
CallMiner captures and analyzes customer conversations across channels at full volume (not just a sample), turning them into insight for customer experience, agent performance and compliance monitoring. It is built for large enterprise contact centers rather than SMB marketing teams, and competes with NICE and Verint at that scale rather than with lighter marketing-focused call trackers.
-
Observe.AI deploys AI agents to handle support conversations end-to-end and gives frontline staff real-time guidance, while also scoring and analyzing interactions for coaching and quality management. It has moved from a pure QA/analytics tool toward agentic automation, and is used mainly by mid-to-large contact centers evaluating both AI automation and human-agent coaching in one platform.
-
Level AI deploys AI agents and analyzes customer interactions across channels to drive contact-center automation, quality management and conversational intelligence in one platform. It targets enterprise support organizations evaluating AI-driven QA and coaching, competing with Observe.AI and CallMiner on breadth of automation versus pure analytics.
-
CloudTalk is a cloud phone system for sales and support teams that includes call analytics, AI voice agents for routine calls, and coverage across 160+ countries. It competes with JustCall and Aircall as a phone-system-plus-analytics option for teams that want calling infrastructure and reporting from a single vendor rather than tracking-only software layered on an existing phone system.
-
JustCall combines a cloud phone system with AI agents for inbound call handling, automated outbound dialing and AI coaching, plus SMS and WhatsApp in one interface. It is CRM-integration-heavy and priced for sales and support teams rather than pure marketing attribution, competing most directly with CloudTalk and Aircall.
-
Balto provides real-time guidance to live agents during calls, automated QA scoring, compliance monitoring and coaching tools, combining human-agent assistance with AI voice agents. It's aimed at contact centers that want to improve human agent performance in the moment rather than only reviewing calls after the fact, distinguishing it from purely after-the-call analytics tools like CallMiner.
-
Aircall combines a cloud phone system with AI voice agents, automated workflows and real-time coaching so teams can manage calls, SMS and messaging from one workspace. It's a common choice for revenue and support teams wanting a phone system with modern analytics and AI features built in, competing with JustCall and CloudTalk on integration ecosystem and ease of setup.
-
Five9 is a cloud contact center (CCaaS) platform spanning voice, email, chat and social channels, with AI tools layered across the interaction lifecycle for routing, agent assist and analytics. It's an enterprise-scale platform typically evaluated against NICE CXone and Genesys rather than smaller call-tracking-only vendors, and buyers should expect a full CCaaS procurement process rather than a lightweight tracking-tool signup.
