Governance, Compliance & Privacy
Buyers are usually a privacy or data leader answering to regulators, and a marketing ops team that needs consent state to travel with the record into every activation destination.
What is governance, compliance & privacy software?
Governance, compliance and privacy tools control what a company is allowed to do with customer data and prove it after the fact: consent capture and enforcement, data subject access and deletion requests, discovery and classification of personal data across systems, and catalogues that record who owns which field and where it came from.
How many governance, compliance & privacy platforms are there?
The Opsmarshal Terminal tracks 21 active governance, compliance & privacy platforms as of 2026-08-30, within a marketing technology landscape of 15,505 products. Each entry links to the vendor’s own site and, where one was captured, its review source.
What to look for
- Separate the three jobs before shortlisting: consent capture (Didomi, Usercentrics, Axeptio), privacy operations and rights fulfilment (OneTrust, Transcend, DataGrail), and data governance and cataloguing (Collibra, Alation, Atlan). Suites that claim all three are strong in one.
- Recording consent is not enforcing it. Ask specifically whether a withheld consent stops the tag firing and stops the downstream sync, or only writes a row. Ketch and Tealium enforce at the collection layer; most banners do not.
- DSAR tooling is only as good as its connectors. A platform that opens a ticket for a human to search Snowflake has not automated anything; check the integration list against your actual systems, including the internal ones.
- Data discovery vendors (BigID, Securiti) and catalogue vendors (Collibra, Alation, Atlan) look similar in a demo and solve different problems: finding personal data you did not know you had, versus documenting data you already know about.
- Governance platforms fail on staffing, not features. Collibra and OneTrust both assume ongoing stewardship headcount; if nobody owns curation, the catalogue is stale within two quarters and the audit value goes with it.
- Check hosting region, sub-processor list and TCF support explicitly if you operate in the EU or sell ad inventory. These are procurement blockers that surface late and kill deals after the technical evaluation.

How this list is built. Platforms are placed in this category by their
public positioning, and ordered alphabetically by company name — this is a reading order,
not a ranking, and it does not indicate quality, popularity, or evidence strength. Ratings appear only where captured
from a named review source with a capture date; a missing number means no qualifying evidence stored,
not a judgment about the vendor. Vendor and review links are unpaid and carry nofollow.
Sponsored placement, where it exists, is labeled separately and never reorders this list.
